## Creating a Risk Assessment

All staff can create risk assessments. Once written, the assessment is submitted for approval before it becomes visible to the wider school.

1. Navigate to **Risk Assessment** from the main sidebar.
2. Create a new risk assessment in the relevant Risk Area.
3. Identify hazards, controls, and any associated actions.
4. Submit the assessment for approval — the designated Approver is notified automatically.

## Approving a Risk Assessment

Approvers receive a notification when a risk assessment is ready for review.

1. Open the risk assessment from your notifications or the module.
2. Review the content and request changes if necessary.
3. Approve the risk assessment — it becomes visible to all staff immediately.

<Tip>
  If a risk assessment is updated or is more than a year old, approvers are automatically alerted to review and re-approve.
</Tip>

## Staff Confirmation

Once a risk assessment is approved, all staff can see it. Staff confirm they have read and understood each assessment. After any update, staff are asked to re-confirm their understanding so you always have an accurate record of who has reviewed the latest version.
