# Catholic SEF: School Self-Evaluation for Catholic Schools
> The Catholic SEF module provides a structured self-evaluation framework for Catholic schools to evaluate against the Catholic Schools Inspection criteria.
Catholic schools are inspected against the Catholic Schools Inspection framework. The Catholic SEF module gives your leadership team a structured, collaborative space to self-evaluate against the framework's criteria — from individual indicators through to high-level summaries for governors.
## What the SEF Covers
The Catholic SEF module is organised to take your school from contextual scene-setting through to detailed, criterion-by-criterion evaluation:
* **School context statements** — set the scene before evaluative sections, so that any reader understands your school's circumstances
* **Progress against the previous inspection's priorities** — record the key priorities from your last Catholic Schools inspection and document your school's response to them
* **High-level school development plan summary** — capture your current development plan at a summary level, reflected across the relevant framework areas
* **For each Catholic framework area:**
* Individual criteria evaluations — record your school's position against each criterion in the Catholic Schools Inspection framework
* Optional evidence detail — add supporting evidence at the level of detail that suits your school, with hyperlinks for extensive documentation
* A four-part area summary — actions taken, impact of those actions, current strengths, and priorities for further development
## Key Features
* **Evaluate at every level** — assess individual criteria in detail, then zoom out to a high-level area summary of strengths and development priorities
* **Hyperlink detailed evidence** — attach or link supporting evidence directly to the relevant criteria evaluation
* **Single-page area summaries** — each framework area produces a one-page summary covering actions, impact, strengths, and priorities, ideal for governors and wider staff
* **Dedicated context and inspection sections** — record contextual information and previous inspection priorities in their own structured sections, separate from evaluative content
