Initial setup requires Administrator access.
Quick Start Steps
1
Enable the module
Go to Administration > Modules and enable Risk Assessment.
2
Assign a Risk Assessment Manager
Go to Administration > Users and assign the Risk Assessment Manager role to one or more members of staff.
3
Assign at least one Approver
An Administrator or Risk Assessment Manager assigns the Risk Assessment Approver role to at least one member of staff. Approvers can approve submitted risk assessments before they are published school-wide.
4
Create Risk Areas
Risk Assessment Managers create Risk Areas to categorise assessments — for example, Science, Trips, or Playground. Risk Areas make it easier for staff to find relevant assessments.
5
Start writing
Any member of staff can now create a risk assessment and submit it for approval.
Creating a Risk Assessment
All staff can create risk assessments. Once written, the assessment is submitted for approval before it becomes visible to the wider school.- Navigate to Risk Assessment from the main sidebar.
- Create a new risk assessment in the relevant Risk Area.
- Identify hazards, controls, and any associated actions.
- Submit the assessment for approval — the designated Approver is notified automatically.
Approving a Risk Assessment
Approvers receive a notification when a risk assessment is ready for review.- Open the risk assessment from your notifications or the module.
- Review the content and request changes if necessary.
- Approve the risk assessment — it becomes visible to all staff immediately.
