Initial setup must be carried out by an Administrator. Once a Safeguarding Manager is assigned, they can manage ongoing configuration.
Initial setup requires Administrator access.

Quick Start

1

Enable the module

Go to Administration > Modules and enable Safeguarding Audit.
2

Assign a Safeguarding Manager

In Administration > Users, assign the Safeguarding Manager role to one or more staff members.
Until at least one Safeguarding Manager is assigned, Administrators receive weekly alerts prompting you to complete this step.
3

Open the module

Reload the page and select Safeguarding Audit from the main navigation sidebar.
4

Explore

View the Safeguarding Areas and Items. Try confirming and unconfirming items and adding notes to familiarise yourself with the workflow.

Further Configuration

Access the management panel from the Manage option in the top-right dropdown menu.
The following configuration steps are available to Safeguarding Managers:
  • Assign Owners — assign the Safeguarding Owner role to areas and items; owners receive weekly reminders for items that are due or overdue
  • Disable or archive items — disable items not yet applicable to your school; archive items that are unlikely ever to apply
  • Add custom items — add Safeguarding Areas and Items that reflect your school’s specific context
  • Reorder areas and items — arrange them in the order that best suits your review workflow
Review dates will initially all be empty. Set dates to fit your school’s safeguarding review cycle.

Day-to-Day Operation

  • Owners receive weekly email reminders for items that are Unapproved, Not OK, or Overdue — plus items due for review within the next 4 weeks
  • When you mark an item OK, the review date is set to one year ahead. If the item is already due within the next 4 weeks, the date rolls forward one year from the current due date — keeping your review cycle on track
  • Owner names next to each item are mailto links — click them to contact the owner directly
  • Print the completed audit for governors, Ofsted, or your LA
